Question:
Wondering when i can drink orange juice...
Before surgery i would mix my protein powder with crushed ice and orange juice and it tasted just like orange julius. That was the easiest way for me to get it down. I am only a month and a 1/2 out (lap rny). Thanks for any info. — naynay972 (posted on July 27, 2006)

Hello, on my 4th week follow up my surgen and dietition I was told I could
drink orange juice (with no pulp), I have had no problems. As always you
should consult your surgen

you can drink OJ any time you want as long as you mix 1/2 with water. As
for protein powder, I suggest you consult your dietican, I don't think it
would be good for you

The crystal light sunrise orange "juice" is a good no carb, no
calorie alternative to real juice and it mixes well with the protein
powders.

Well I was told by my doctor and my dietician that I could drink orange
juice (or any juice) just as long as it was unsweet. They do make a
Tropicana orange juice low in sugar and that should be ok.

Careful trying orange juice. Many people will dump immediately on it. And
juice, although derived from healthy fruit, is just drinking calories and
sugar you don't otherwise need to do. Sunrise Orange Crystal Light is the
way to go, IMO. Save the juice for down the road when you've lost, and
then wait to find out if you dump from it.
