Question:
How do you get all of your protein in?

I don't mind drinking the protein, but it makes me really full. How do people get in 100 grams a day and not feel too full to eat? If I did three drinks a day I would never want to eat. Can someone give me some examples with how they manage their intake of protein and food?    — Cheri M. (posted on March 25, 2002)

I am 10 mos post op and get most of my protein from food, although I have added a protein bar in the morning. If you look on my profile I have a typical day's meals for me at 4 months and also at 9 months. I had an increase in my hunger level and also the amount of food I could eat at 6 mos or so. I don't know that I could have eaten 100 grams of protein before that but I have no problems now. One thing about the drinks making you too full--I have that problem and it seems to be from blending the drinks. 8 oz worth becomes 16 when it is puffed up from air and it is almost like drinking carbonated drinks for me--makes my pouch feel uncomfortable and I burp a lot. Maybe if you try premixed drinks (like CarbSolutions--the cappuccino flavor is good) or let them sit a while after blending you won't feel so full.<p>I am trying to get my 100 grams in as we "speak" so I'll outline it for you. Breakfast was 2 oz cheese, a few mandarin orange pieces, and 6 oz of chocolate soy milk with coffee (21g protein). I had a protein bar mid morning (15g protein). For lunch I am having 2 1/2 oz chicken sauteed with onions on a pita (I only eat a couple bites of that) with tomatoes and lettuce and a squidge of mayo (22g protein). I will have the other half of that for midafternoon meal (22g protein). That's 80 grams of protein before I go home at night. All I have to do is make sure that between my dinner and my evening snack (if I have one) I get 20 grams of protein and I am good to go!

The poster before me, Robert, mentioned "veggie fuel". I have never heard of this. Can someone tell me what it is? Thanks

How are you making it up? Is each one a culinary delight? I often use one that shakes up in 4 oz of water & is of a watery consistency, so it flows on through at a good pace.
