Question:
Am I normal if I can take in several oz. of liquid???
Since waking up from surgery 4 days ago, nothing liquid has bothered me, I seem to not need to sip sip sip as I've heard on here for months. Is this normal? or can it be harmful to drink more than the recommended "1 oz every 15 minutes" guide. The temperature of the liquids don't seem to bother me either, I'm worried that this isn't normal or that I will do something wrong. Please help if you have information! No, nothing is wrong. The reason we all say sip, sip, sip is because you
aren't hungry and therefore, some don't even drink liquids and become
dehydrated. So if you are remembering to sip your liquids slowly, that is
better. The faster you sip or gulp down your liquids, you will cause a bad
stomach ache and a lot of pressure on the newly stapled pouch. As long as
you have liquids going in. You shouldn't have liquids bother you, per se,
and sometimes the temperature of them seem to make the new pouch
"hurt". But you seem to be doing okay. Just be sure to get in
your protein as part of your liquids. You are on the right track.

Stacy
I to seemed to be able to handle more liquid than what is recommended.
People have told me not worry, that everyone is different. Just relax.

i could too but they said not to do it because it would put extra pressure
on the incision and could stretch you out. i'm glad to hear you're not
having a problem taking in anything though. that's great.

I think you can never have too much liquid & I tend to be the other way
& not drink enough. Don't worry, you are doing fine I am sure

I wondered if it would stretch it..........so after it is all healed up,
will it still stretch it if I'm not sipping?? Do people sip forever?

Hi stacey, congrats! I would say getting in liquids/water is great...as
much as u can. Especially right now right after surgery. Just take it slow,
meaning big gulps. I know for DS they say at LEAST 64oz. daily
