Question:
Where do I get Biotin

I was reading a quetion posted about hair loss, and I'm wondering where do you get Biotin? I have 7 days and I will be having my RNY, and one of the things I'm worried about is hair loss. I have thick hair it's long past my shoulders. I want to know in advance where would I go to get something to help my hair from falling out. I know it's going to happen. I'm really excited Just 7 more days till I change my life. Thanks for your comments Theresa~L~    — treeeza (posted on June 22, 2009)

I also found it at Wal-Mart. Congratulations on your surgery next week. I will be right behind you on the following week.

Theresa, there really isn't anything you can do on the inside to stop the hair loss. It is from the surgery and the protein we are lacking in the beginning of our w/l journey. I use a shampoo that I used during my hair loss and it is called Nioxin Scalp Treatment. There is a shampoo and cond. and it makes your hair feel fuller and thicker while going through this phase. It works so well that I use it all the time, I have a lot of hair but it is fine. I also had hair loss from my thyroid so I had a double whammy. W.L. surgery and Thyroid problems. I know you will find this shampoo a blessing. Of course, a lot of people will say take vitamins, take Biotin, but honestly, it is from the surgery and protein issues. Mostly from the surgery, your body has been traumatized. Email me at a later date and tell me how you like the shampoo. You can get it a your local beauty supply store or beauty shop.

I get my Biotin from All Star Health online. The great thing is that they are lozenges and taste yummy. Nothing to swallow. You get 100 for $4.95 and they are 1,000mcg. I started them about 2 months ago and they are doing wonders for my nails - they grow like nobody's business. Too early to say anything about the hair, but it cant hurt! http://www.allstarhealth.com/f/natures_way-biotin_1000mcg.htm

I am pre-WLS and have been doing loads of research (like most all others on here). I was all gung-ho about getting the Biotin, then read a post about how the Biotin will sometimes cause growth of hair on the face (think female mustache)! Now, I'm worried about taking it. Anyone else have any information on facial hair growth from Biotin?
