Question:
Did any of you who had the lap band surgery had to have NG tube during surgery?

I know that you do for a gastric by pass but do you for the lap band    — tellmemore (posted on August 16, 2007)

I did not have an NG tube during or after my by pass surgery. I don't think that is a normal procedure for either surgery. Julia

NG is a nasal gastric tube, they are not usual after a band. Unless you had a nick of some kind or bleeding. But it is not out of the question they keep you from throwing up afterwards and pump trash out.

I think you mean to ask whether any lap banders were intubated for general anesthesia rather than getting anesthesia thru IV.
