They might. You need to have your numbers under control before going in
under anesthesia. Do not fear what you cannot control. Contact your doctor
and find out exactly how this is going to effect your surgery date. I went
just the opposite almost a year and a half ago. I developed Graves disease
(hyperactive thyroid). I was told by my surgeon that I could have a stroke
or a heart attack with uncontrolled thyroid problems after going under
anesthseia. That scared me right there and I understood why I needed to
wait on my PS until I was healthy.

My surgery was postponed because of this but we checked my t4 and
determined that the new dose was helping my thyroid enough and that the TSH
had not had a chance to catch up so the surgery was immediately
rescheduled. If you're surgery is not until July, I wouldn't worry at all.
Keep on top of the lab testing. Remember TSH is not what they necessarily
want you to have, that is just the inicator hormone of how much t4 that you
have.

I'm 2 yrs PO RNY, and I already had graves disease 12 yrs prior to gastric
bypass and have been on a replacement thyroid med. It took me 1/2 yr to get
the dosage of synthyroid correct, due to malabsorption issues. In my
opinion, I think getting your thyroid under control before surgery would be
best for the future. I know its hard to wait, but being healthier is key!
Best of luck!
