Question:
BCBS FL POS - Does anyone know of a Dr. in South Florida that can do both TT & hernia on BCBS
I am at goal weight and found out today that I have a bad hernia that has to be taken care of real soon..... I also wanted the extra skin removed from my Panni at the same time.Problem is My surgent will take my insurance for the Hernia Repair But wants $4000.00 more for removing the excess skin I have........... Does this sound like a normal fee or should I shop around.. If so I need a little help finding the right doctor.... Thanks — SHARRI F. (posted on April 27, 2001)

I recently had both (2) Hernia repairs and a TT. I have BCBS they paid for
the hernia repairs and I had to pay for the TT. I believe if the panni is
bad and can be documented that BCBS will pay, but that has to be done by
the doctor with pictures. If he is not willing to do that I would get a
second opinion with a plastic surgeon who is in your plan that can do both
for you. Others on this site have been successful in getting there
insurance company to pay. I did not try to have BCBS pay for mine because I
had very little it was more for me than necessary. Good Luck and
congragulations on reaching you goal, you'll be pass goal once the panni is
removed. Also if you have to pay your WLS surgeon $4000.oo why not use a
plastic surgeon who will do a much better job. Just my thought
