I would think it would depend on the type of travel and the duration. That
would be a question for your doctor, too.

I wanted to travel from the East coast to the midwest 2 weeks after lap RNY
and my surgeon said no because the risk of blood clots was too high. I did
what he said even though I felt I would be fine...after all those who get
their surgery out of the country fly within a week of surgery...why
couldn't I? But like I said I listened to my surgeon and you should too.
We are not cookie cutters, we are individuals. Please speak to your
surgeon, explain your travel plans, and find out what is best for you.

I got on a plane a few hours after the drainage tube was removed. Flight
was only 2 hours. The treck thru the airport that day was very tiring
though.

I was told road trip was ok as long as I could lay down in the back seat or
put my feet up on something to prevent circulatin issues. No flying for
atleast 30 days due to common complications.

I wanted to fly to Florida from Maryland the day after I get out of the
hospital and although I knew the answer the Doc said no way! It's also a
short flight. I was worried not only about clots but if I got there and
something went wrong Id have to find a doctor.
