Looking for a MSG doctor in the Los Angeles area.

I'm very interested in having the mini gastric bypass surgery done. I'm looking for a doctor in the Los Angeles area (san Fernando valley included). Any suggestions?    — gab90069 (posted on September 8, 2008)

Hi George -- I'm Dani in West LA. I don't know about Mini Gastric Bypass, but I HIGHLY recommend my surgeon for a consult, at the least. In fact, I recommend ANY of the Drs in his group, as they are PHENOMINAL(sp?)! PLS - Pasadena Laproscopic Surgeons - Dr. David Lourie, Dr. David Martin and Dr. Wes Powell. The BEST support group in Los Angeles (meets weekly on Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm in Braun Auditorium at Huntington Memorial Hospital - and open to visitors from OTHER programs!). They have an info seminar every first Wednesday of the month, also in the Braun. You can call the Drs office for exact time. I had my surgery in November '07, had a BMI of 72, and have lost 110 pounds and have a BMI just over 50. Still high, but a lot of progress in a short time. Tell them that Dani Zandel referred you - the office manager knows who I am! I STILL go to the support meetings at least twice a month and believe that to be a HUGE part of my success. I know you said you are looking for MSG, but with insurance issues being what they are, you really need to, again, at least, consult with this group! Good luck and I'll be looking for you.
