Question:
Saw Palmetto
Hi I was wonderng if anyone has ever tried saw palmetto for Hair loss? I do already take hair, nail and skin vitamins and have also tried Biotin in the past. I also get in enough protein. I was wondering if anyone has tried saw palmetto herbal supplement and if it works? I read that saw palmetto is good for hair loss. I also was wondering if anyone knows of any hair, skin and nails liquid vitamins that have worked for them? Thanks so much, Jeannie — jjeanniespets1 (posted on January 30, 2008)

Saw palmetto is an herbal testosterone antagonist. It supposedly works by
blocking the amount of testosterone in the blood stream. For years it was
touted as a help for men with prostate problems. Later it was thought to
help with male pattern baldness. I doubt it would be helpful for our type
of hair loss since our hair loss is not usually associated with an over
abundance of testosterone.

I haven't heard of it. I use Biotin and also Nioxin products recommended
by the nurses who had previously WLS. So far I have not had any hair loss
so far. You can buy subl ling Biotin at the healt food store and the
Nioxin from my hair dresser. my sister was able to get the Nioxin for me at
cost as she is a hair dresser.
