Question:
Has anyone been approved lately for surgery through Arkansas Rehab?
I'd like to get some feedback and your experience (within the last year) from patients who have had surgery paid for by Ark Rehab. I don't have any insurance at all, and I'm not qualified for Medicaid or Medicare. I'm trying to get some info to make an informed decision, such as what's required, how long is the process, and especially if it's even possible. — utaylor1 (posted on October 12, 2007)

It is possible. My sister tried to go through them to get her surgery. I
know she had to have copies of her records from the doctor sent to them,
but not sure what else she had to have. You could probably call them and
ask questions. That is what they are there for. I think the reason she
didn't get it was because her doctor had documented any weightloss plans,
but I'm not real sure. I hope it works out for you!

Hello Rene', my name is Susan. I am currently attempting to go through the
AR Rehab for approval. I do know individuals that I work with that were
approved, so I do know it is possible. I am still working my way through
their system. They are a state gov. orig. so there is plenty of red tape
so to speak. Part of the requirements are as follows: 1. General Medical
Assessment, 2. Documentation of morbid obesity at least 5 years (medical
records from your doctor or doctors that cover 5 yrs), 3. Co-morbid
conditions such as diabetes, sleep apnea, arthritis, and cardiac failure.,
4. Documentation from treating physician of success or failure in a
structured weight loss program for 1 yr while under care. The main number
in (800)330-0632. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
