You will be fine! Just follow the doctors orders and as soon as you can
WALK WALK WALK! You will have a great deal of gas you have to get rid of
and it's painful, but within about 30 seconds of getting up and walking the
pain will be gone for about an hour and it starts all over again. The
walking not only helps get rid of the gas, it helps you heal faster.
Remember, the surgeon's doing this surgery have been doing it for at the
VERY minimum of about 3 yrs, so they know what they are doing and what to
look out for etc. After I got rid of the gas, I didn't have any pain. The
more you can walk the less pain you will experience. Good luck and see you
on the losing side! God Bless!

Hi Lisa,
Easy for me to say relax as I am not able to have surg for 1 yr but, try.
My friend had her surg in April and did just fine. Her Dr. was there for
her as well as the hospital staff. She and several other ladies had theres
done and I had the pleasure of spending the day with all the families. All
were nervous and ALL did just fine. I saw several of the ladies up and
walking hours after surg. Be positve and you will do just fine!
I will keep you in my prayers Lisa. Julie

Have faith in GOd and the Doctor. It is perfectly normal to be afraid. Go
take you a long hot soak in the tub, dim the lights , light a candle, get
some calming music, sink in the tub and talk to God that is all prayer is
talking. Spend some quite time with him. Know everything is in God's hand
and you need not worry he loves to do the worrying for us. Email us when
you get home!!!

Lisa I am 4 weeks post-op. I was nervous until the day of the surgery. I
was amazingly calm that day. I kept thinking, '3 weeks and no work!'.
Remember that it is a new chapter in your life, all for the better. You
will be fine and remember to immediately start off on the right foot with
vitamins and protein everyday. Good luck. You are off to a new beginning!

Lisa,
Dont' worry...everything will be okay. It's normal to be afraid but ask
God to give you peace...and he will do just that. I was the very same way.
I am now a little over 3 months post-op and I was so excited until the day
before surgery. On that day I begin to ask myself, "what in the world
are you about to do". I had all sorts of things going on inside of
me...I was excited, nervous and fearful all at once. So I begin to pray.
The morning of the surgery I woke up, took my shower and on my way to
Ocala, FL I went (I had my surgery done in Ocala). All of the emotions
that I experienced the day before were gone. God had given me the peace
that I asked for.
Just think of tomorrow as being the first day of the rest of your life.
You will be fine !!
Remember to walk as much as you can; as soon as you can. Walking will help
relieve the gas and help with the healing process. Follow your doctor's
orders and call him or his staff whenever you have any questions. GOOD
LUCK !!!!

:) Lisa, it's normal to be nervous, but you will be fine. I was also very
worries, but once you go into the room and see your Doc, you will feel good
knowing that you picks him or her because you have faith in them. I am now
1 yr and 8 months. I feel great, and you will also. One day at a time my
friend.. And then you will be laughing about what you wrote today. All the
best to you..As you now start on the road to your new life.

It may be psychological also. You are about to "break-up" with
your best friend known as "food". It is a psychological
adjustment but remember there are great benefits. Physically, everyone is
different. I had alot of shoulder pain and other pains but like every one
says, just start walking. Within a few days most all aches and pains were
gone. You will be in great hands!

You'll be fine. There'll be drugs to help with the pain; however, you'll
sleep most of the day. You'll experience soreness; however, I didn't
experience excruciating pain -- good surgeon.

I listened to Bariatric surgeon last night and there were about 45 peole in
the room who had had the surgery. I asked the same question. The docotr who
had done over 100 Roux En Y's said It is not a painfull surgery, so the
smartas- in me came out and I asked the crowd. Not one of them said it was
painfull. Several said the only thing they had was a tiredness and the
small incisions were a little sore..............Lord, that seems easier to
me then a sigmoidectomy or mamogram. Put those fear to rest, if it didn't
freak out all those people, rlax and let it happen, Sometimes a little fear
is a healthy thing, but not to excess. This operation has less then 1 %
complications, your chances of walking across the kitchen floor and falling
and breaking something are greater then that. Good Luck

I had mixed emotions the day before, too! It is SO normal to second guess
one minute, be excited the next, freaked out the next. You will run the
full gammit of emotions. I cried right before they wheeled me off to the
operating room. The nurse asked if I was OK and I was....finally the tears
of joy came knowing when I woke up - my life would be different and things
would be changing for the better. You will be fine!! Relax and enjoy the
experience....before you know it...it's over and you are like - that
happened years ago...and it's only been 4 months.
