Question:
requesting results from those who have had revision surgery
Am 9 years out, have gained back 30 of 90 pounds lost, endoscopy has revealed enlargement of opening, doctor has agreed to perform revision, and am interested in hearing from others how their revision surgeries went for them...weight loss results, food tolerances or not, etc. — springersofttail (posted on October 26, 2006)

Jeanne,
Before you have another surgery, check into Sclerotherapy. I don't know how
widely it's done, but my surgeons office has been doing it for some time
(Check
http://www.mmpc.com/specialties/michigan_weight_loss_specialists/serv/bariatric/sclero
). From their site: "How Sclerotherapy Works:
Sclerotherapy is an outpatient procedure available for gastric bypass
patients who have a dilated (enlarged) opening in their pouch. The
procedure may be helpful in preventing additional surgery and may assist
the patient with continued weight loss. It involves injecting an irritant
around the opening from the pouch to the intestines. The body then reacts
to the irritant by constricting (decreasing) the opening. " I haven't
had this done, but many have and I haven't heard anything bad (other than
the occasional person who has had to have it as many as 3 times). But, if
it would work for you, it sure beats surgery! Ask your Dr., or point him to
the website. Good luck either way!! Chip

I just had a revision on Sept. 11th and my original gastric bypass was 13
years ago. i wore a size six for about 11 years and then started to gain
weight back. so far so good. i have lost 29 pounds so far and corrected
alot of problems. i say go and talk to a doctor that does it alot and that
does it laproscopically. i didn;t want to lose all the plastic surgery so
wanted to do it before i gained all the weight back. let me know if i can
help. good luck!
