Question:
What are you using for Calcium supplement?
First off, I know this is a repeat question Jeannie, but I did a search of the archives and lots of the responses are so dated that I thought I would start a new thread. I was buying my chewable calcium from BB vitamins and noticed that they now only sell the 90 day supply. Since I like to purchase my supplements monthly, this won't work for me. Please tell me what Calcium Citrate you are using and if there is a website for it. Please do not reply if you are using Calcium Carbonate because I am only interested in the Citrate form. Thanks! I use the chewable calcium citrate wafers from Twinlab. They remind me of
big sweet tarts. Even though I'm 3 years out and can swallow pills, I
still use them. I take 2 after lunch and 2 after dinner - I kind of think
of them as dessert! I've ordered from both of these sites with no
problems..

I use the chews from Citracal. Yes, don't worry. They are calcium citrate.
They come in chocolate, chocolate mint, caramel, lemon creme. They aren't
sugar free but they are worth it. It's the only form of calcium i've been
consistently able to force down.

I am using liquid Cal-Mag that is made by Vitamin Shoppe. Also when I can
find it I buy the Citracal Chews (Lemon). Both have about 2 weeks worth in
box/bottle. Price is about $7.00.

I just switched from chewables to regular caplets. (I'm 5 months out from
RNY). I use the same brand though - TwinLab. The content is the same too.
You can get it online from Vitamin Shoppe:

Citracal + Vitamin D.
The citracal chews have both. Vitamin D is essential in Calcium
absorption.
I have even been passing them out to all the women at work to encourage
them to take in their calcium, including the non - WLS people.

Since I'm almost 12 yrs out, I know we are bottomless calcium pits. I use
capsules, UpCal D powder and the BA cinnamons, whatever is handy. I issue
the caps in my pill packs, but add UpCal to my shakes and pop the BA's when
I think of it and haven't just taken iron.

I use Viactive Chews and they are GREAT. Walmart even has a buddy brand
version of them that are cheaper. I stick w/ the name brand and they even
have the chews in a MultiVitamin as well.
