Question:
Foods to get

Today I am going to finally get everthing else I need to begin my new life. I have somethings like broth, cib, s/f jello, s/f pudding, apple juice, lite cranberry juice. I also have tuna, and eggs. So, if anyone has anything else they can think of that I need to add to what I have please let me know. Thanks, Melissa    — kizie23 (posted on December 17, 2005)

Welcome to your new life; everything will be great! I am six months out and have lost 74 lbs and 95 lbs form the highest I ever weighed. I would recommended that you get some Crystal Light; it was a life saver for me. Also some Malt o Meal and cream of potato soup reallly helped. Good luck and we will see you on the other side. Laural

I would grab some hearty soups to have for lunches and dinners: tomato soup, pureed split pea soup, pureed cream of broccoli, etc. For breakfast, try having pureed cottege cheeze with a scoop of peach yogurt; ricotta cheeze with a scoop of strawberry yogurt; cream of wheat cereal; applesauce, etc. Most importantly is your protein drink!

One thing I really enjoyed right after surgery were Edy's Fruit Bars (NO SUGAR ADDED ones) Yum Yum

Do not buy alot of anything!!!! Once I had surgery I couldn't stand anything sweet especially artificially sweet. I am still trying to drink sugar free drinks and I am 4 1/2 months out. The biggest thing I found that helped was milk it has a little bit of everything fat, calories, protein, calcium. Herbal tea is great for sitting by the TV and drinking before bed. Be careful with tomato soup due to the sugar from the tomatoes and added sugar also the acid in them hurts like all get out. At about 3 months I could have tomatoes but watch the soup. Any soup that can be pureed is good. At first you will only eat about 2 tablespoons so a can should last a while. Good luck and welcome to the losing side..............

I suggest buying some of the smallest food storage containers you can get your hands on. You can never finish a whole container of anything, don't wan't stuff to go bad. I am at the pureed phase and make up small containers to take places with me to.
