Question:
Kaiser - Inland Empire California
Does anyone know the current rules being used by Kaiser in the Inland Empire to start the surgery process? My friend lives in Temecula. I had my surgery in San Diego - so I know the rules are different. If anyone has RECENT information, it would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you! — MissKimberly (posted on December 1, 2005)

Kaiser recently started a new program called "OPTIONS". I live
in the San Gabriel valley and am attending. There is a woman in our class
who lives in the inland empire who is also attending. This is a required
six month course to prepare you for the surgery. You must be referred by
your physician. Once this course is completed, only then will you be
considered for the surgery. You are required to lose 10% of your current
weight also before being considered for surgery. The class meets once a
week for an hour and a half. There is a curiculum and homework. You are
required to journal weekly. Also, there is a TON of information that you
receive that you might not otherwise no about with regards to this surgery.
I was extremely hesitant and upset to know that I would have to wait 6
months (minimum) for my surgery, but i am glad that I made the decision to
stick it out. The class size is about 12 people and were ALL pretty much
in the same boat so we comiserate well. It is a good support system. I
hope this info helps! Good luck.
