Question:
Protein..I am having a hard time rotating food choices
I am eating the same things over and over..I am getting bored!!! I am 2 1/2 mos post op w/ 54 lb loss so far..have no problems w/ my water intake and vitamins, but I have to admit my protein intake lately has been the pits!! I have one protein shake every morning, and i know that is not enough due to the fact that I have not been eating a lot of meat. I do have other forms of protein, cottage cheese, string cheese, some nuts (depending on the tummy that day), but overall i find that I am in a rut and I need some suggestions. Shrimp, shrimp, shrimp. I eat it just about every day! I eat shrimp
cocktail as a snack after supper, and I eat shrimp or another type of fish
when I go out to eat. Salmon is very high in protein. Also, one thing
I've found, Campbell's Chunky Split Pea soup is fairly high in protein. I
think it's like 11 grams/serving. Also, cottage cheese, yogurt, string
cheese, tuna. I never have protein shakes (YUCK!) and my dietitian says
I'm doing just fine. Hope this helps!

Don't forget Wendy's chili. It was the first beef I had as a post-op, and
boy was it great...easy and cheap, too!

My surgeon highly recommends peanut butter (I put it on thin apple slices)
and jerky for good sources of protein. One ounce of jerky had 17g of
protein and only 1/2 g of fat. Luckily, I like the stuff. I have a
protein bar for breakfast, fish or meat for lunch, jerky in the afternoon
and meat and veggies or cottage cheese with green pepper, cucumber and
tomatos for dinner. I usually manage to get close to 70g of protein a day.
