The more you walk, the better your body will release the gas.

Gas X Strips are helpful as well. I had terrible gas and actually still have it quite a bit. I keep a box of strips in my purse, by my bed, and in my desk at work :o) Lori Tims

I agree with both of the above posts. I had a lot of gas for about 4 weeks. (It was very dangerous to stand behind me)I noticed reduction in the gas when I started taking Probiotics to replenish my bowel bacteria. I don't know if they helped or if it was going to get better anyway but it did improve. I'm just over 6 weeks out now and still have gas but not like that first month. Hope this helps. Kevin

They pump your body fullof gasses to do laprascopic surgery...and that is just so uncomfortable and painful for so many...Your body had to absorb it and then pass it...and it can take a while...Walking helps with gas and with recovery and weight loss...so WALK! But after GB, your entire system needs to learn it's new way of digesting food and gas is one of those things we all experience...It's long term as well...But there are things to avoid the really 'wicked" kind that clears a room and seems to have no end to it's wickedness! LOL Probiotic are AMAZING! eating less simple carbs (bad bacteria love sugar and starches...and their waste is the wicked kind of gas results!) Lay off gassy producing foods til you are well healed (cabbage, broccoli, brusselsprouts, onions, mushrooms, etc) Those are the ones that do it for me! Whenever I do eat those things I am certain to pop a probiotic and save myself, my pride and dignity, my family! LOL But get used to the gas...It's there to stay...but you can control the majority of it...and once you have those bouts of really stinky gas...it can take up to 2 weeks for the probiotics to kill the bad bacteria blooms and blabnce out your intestinal flora...So give it time...Probiotic have many other good uses as well...It helps you absorb nutrients better, fights off toxins and even helps with infections...Read about them here at Harvard Medical: https://www.health.harvard.edu/fhg/updates/update0905c.shtml

I'll be 4 weeks post op from lap RNY on Monday. My gas was in my shoulders, mostly my left shoulder, for about 14 days. I walked and walked but it didn't seem to help much. When I sat down I always had a heating pad on my shoulder. That seemed to help the most. Give it a try. I don't think there is any magic cure, but the good news is that it does get better. I haven't had much gas since and I hope I don't.
