You should always call your office if you have any doubt. I know I had the burpy feeling, full feeling. I couldn't burp for at least 3 weeks. Everyone is effected differently. And healing your body isn't just over night. Sometimes you have to push yourself to drink or even eat, I know I still have problems eating, I know I always feel better after e-mailing my lapband surgeon (Dr. McEwen's) staff. That's what they're there for, to hlelp you through getting use to your new tool (and what an awsome tool it is!)

Robin I am months out from my banding. I was lucky and had the full feeling from the minute I woke up from surgury. Yes I had the burps too. I still do, but a small price to pay to continue to lose the weight. I rode that full feeling for 6 months and lost 75 lbs. I had to have a partial unfill due to that time of the month and some severe swelling back in Feb. I had a partial refill in June but need more. I haven't lost anything in 2 months but over all I feel good about my success. I am going back for another fill in July and hope to get that full feeling back. I want to ride it for another 50 lbs. I work through the burping and my family and friends around me understand and are used to me saying "excuse me". Hang in there and yes of course call the doctor. Best of luck!

Hi, I am 5 week lap band post op and I haven't experienced the burp feeling your talking about. I came out of surgery hungry and the hunger has NOT gone away! However, I was on liquids ONLY for the first 3 weeks - per my doctors recommendation. You want to be careful not to stretch your pouch out but you can drink as much water, soup, etc..... as you want. I hope you are on a good protien shake. My first fill is in 5 days and I hope I begin to feel some restriction. Good Luck, Jen

I have not experienced this personally, however, a friend in my support group has been feeling this way for weeks now. The surgeon had to repair a HUGE hiatal hernia and said she still has so much swelling from the surgery that it would take her a lot longer than most to be able to tolerate even mushy foods.
