Question:
INTERNAL HERNIA

Has anyone had any experience with Internal Hernias? If so, what are the symptoms?    — [Deactivated Member] (posted on April 2, 2007)

An internal hernia is caused typically when your intestine telescopes into itself-- when it happens you are in severe pain. The pain hits like being whacked in the gut-- I felt doubled over with the worst cramps of my life (admittedly, not much of a standard for a guy) and intense nausea. I felt as if all I needed to do was go to the bathroom, but there was nothing happening there at all. Fortunately, I got to my surgeon immediately and was operated within 15 hours of the first symptoms onset.

I had one removed March last year. It starts with a little pain, and then increases. Go see your doctor ASAP

You will have a lot of pain with an internal hernia, that you just will not be able to get rid of. You should get to your doctor right away if you think that you may have an internal hernia. I had one 14 months after me initial bypass surgery and was rushed into emergency surgery. Waiting to have this checked out could have serious consequences. If it goes to long, you could lose part of your bowels and risk infection. Please see your surgeon ASAP. This is nothing to play with.

I had my surgery in March of 2004 since then I am going on my second pregnancy. I developed a rare hernia called diaphragmatic hernia. My large intestine went right through my diaphram and is pushing against my lungs. It is very painful, nasuating, and it causes extreme fatigue among other symptoms. Unfortunately I am back on soft foods like baby food and a lot of liquids because of the severe constipation and possibilities of enstragulating the bowel which can be deadly. I am seven months pregnant now and have had quite a few emergency room visits due to the pain and nasuea. I am sorry I didnt take care of it between pregnancies. The doctors are monitoring me because it is extremely risky at this stage. I plan to have surgery as soon as doctors allow which may be sooner because they plan to induce labor or have a ceserean. I suggest you have an intrnal hernia take care of it!! asap
