I love my protein drink. I mix the protein, 1/2 scoop of Vanilla and 1/2
scoop of chocolate and mix it with a small amount of water and stir with a
spoon until you get all of the lumps out of it. Then you slowly pour it
into your coffee. Keep stirring and sit back and sip the best chocolate
mocha you have ever tasted. Susan

Hey there. I have at least 6 months left to go before surgery and am trying
to lose weight on my own now. I use Super Advanced Whey Protein (Chocolate)
and it's tolerable. You can pick it up at Walmart for around 14.00. Anyway,
it tastes pretty much like chocolate milk. Best wishes.

You don't have to drink the protein drinks the rest of your life.
I use a product called "UNJURY" It comes flavored and
unflavored. I mix the chocolate in with my Swiss Miss sugar and fat free
hot chocolate. My surgeons office sold tiny little blender whisks at his
office and I bought one and used that to mix my stuff. You just whip the
hot chocolate, (30 calories) Uhnjury, and about a cup of water together
drink in a tall cup and it's great. You must be sure to use
"hot" water, but not "boiling" water with the unjury or
it will get lumpy. I really like it. The unflavored Unjury you can mix
into a million other things like sugar free puddings, mashed potatoes,
cottage cheese etc. You can get Unjury on line, just do a search or a lot
of Doc sell it in their office. Hope this helps.

Nectar Protein mix is great, especially the fuzzy navel and chocolate
truffle flavors. I've also found that SmartForme's Wildberry Passion mix
is delicious - a little like koolaid but not quite as sweet. Additionally,
"Oh Yeah" Vanilla Creme and Chocolate ready to drink bottles are
yummy.....like a melted milkshake....all available from BariatricEating.com
online. Another one is IsoPure Grape Frost bottled protein drink, which
you can get at any Vitamin Shoppe. EAS, from Costco, isn't too bad, and
Bluebonnet Whey Protein Mix with natural vanilla flavor and 27 grams of
protein from some Whole Foods markets (apparently they don't all carry the
same products) can both be mixed into food like oatmeal or pudding, and you
can't taste the difference.... BariatricEating.com has a "starter
sample kit" which includes the book "Before and After" by
Susan Maria Leach, which is a really good read and contains over 135
recipes for after your surgery, for only $70.00 including shipping. I
thought it was well worth the price, because I'd been spending lots of
money on single serving packages of stuff that were really YUCKKY, and
nothing I've tried from the starter kit so far has been bad.

I use My Victory Chocolate. I bought powdered peanut butter and add a
banana and have a choco banana shake. I also mix My Victory Vanilla with
Sugar Free Vanilla pudding or Peach Light Yoplait Yogurt. The chocolate
with frozen strawberries is delicious too. You just get creative!! Have
fun.

Unjury seems to be the best protein drink. It has 20 grams of protein per
scoop. You can mix it with milk or water or you can even heat it up like
hot chocolate. It mixes well and is not grainy at all.
Good Luck!

I loved Nectar before surgery...Stocked up on all kinds of flavors
spending/wasting $100 of dollars...After surgery they made me really
sick...I cannot even open the jar and smell them without getting
sick...Reason is I became lactose intolerant and whey is one thing I cannot
tolerate post op. SO...don't stock up just yet...and try samples after
surgery to see which protein you like and can handle...I recommend any whey
that is isolated and has at least the 8 essential amino acids. It should
NOT be used forever...Protein as a "supplement" meaning it is in
addition to food...You will only "need" it until you can eat
enough to stay healthy...Surgeons give everyone the same magic number
"60 g" of protein to aim for...It's jsut an average....We are not
all the same weight and shape...Personally I consume almost double that
number! But that's later! My nut recommended Unjury as being one of the
best. I had a sample and don;t remember what I thought of it... but it was
a hassle to order because you cannot buy it anywhere, It can only be
ordered...I am a hands on kinda person...I like to shop and buy my stuff in
stores...By the time I decided the internet was okay to give out my charge
card number I stopped using protein supplements! I buy EAS whey and soy
isolate blend at Costco and it is the ONLY protein besides the ready made
bottles of Isopure that do not make me gag or give me a belly ache from
artifical sugars they use to make it low sugar! I love the taste of Muscle
Milk (powder) but that stuff gives me a terrible belly ache...Bummer
because it tastes/smells just like cake batter to me! Yum! Oh well...There
are so many different brands out there and so many different taste
buds...You will get WILDLY different likes and dislikes...You gotta find a
good quality isolate...You protein supplement should be PROTEIN supplement
and not loaded with extra vitamins and nutrients...Otherwise it will be a
meal replacement...You want a protein as a supplement not a meal...and you
want to take your vitamins seperately as well...

The only thing I've been able to tolerate much as far as protein drinks is
the premixed EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control Chocolate Fudge ones. They're in
little silver cardboard containers - you don't mix them with water, just as
is. I chill them so they're very cold. They've got 17 gms of protein in 11
oz.
I also just ordered the sample pack of Unjury powders from their website.
You can get their five flavors, including the unflavored one, shipped to
you. You can sample any or all of them. It cost me $12.20 to get all five,
including shipping. One of their flavors is chicken broth, which sounds
good to me since I'm getting sick of all the sweet stuff!

I like GNC's Pro performance designer whey protein the best. It comes in
many flavors such as cookies and cream, chocolate caramel, strawberry
banana, mixed berries, orange and cream, to name a few. It is very
affordable allowing me to have a wider sellection at hand. I like to mix my
protein powder with milk and put it in a blender. I find that if I mix it
with cold liquids it has a better consistency and less clumpy. Sometimes I
put a bannana or some fresh fruit to make it like a smoothie. However,
taste buds tend to change after surgery, so don't buy too much stuff now.
You might not like it afterwards. Good luck.

I can't stand anything thick or gritty. I use protidiet fruit flavored
drinks from www.bariatricchoice.com. Sometimes they will even send you
samples to try before you have to buy a whole box. I like the tropical
fruit, grape and the orange is ok.

Hello!
I am 7 weeks out from my Lap RNY and after trying several protein powders
and spending loads of money I found UNJURY. Its available online. It runs
about $18 a container and is loaded with ~20 grams of protien. If you mix
it with milk that's 28 grams of protien and that's all you need at one
time;Max is 30. Unjury comes in a variety of flavors and can be mixed with
water or milk. I love to mix the strawberry sorbet flavored protein with
4C sugar free lemonade and water for a strawberry lemonade drink. It's not
grainy and mixes well! The chicken soup flavor is great if you are craving
salt but follow the directions when mixing because if the water is too hot
it will cook the protein and cause it to lump. They also have individual
travel packs. I keep one in my purse and I always have my protein on hand.
My NUT wants me to get most of my protein from food sources now and not
protien shakes, but it is a gradual thing because of the amount of food
intake my body can handle right now. So to insure that I am getting
everything I need at this point, I eat 3 small protein packed meals and one
snack and then sometime during the day I have one protein drink. As I am
able to eat more food I should be able to stop drinking the protien. But,
Unjury is a wonderful, easy and tasteful way to get the required amount of
protein in your diet.
Good Luck!

I used Protidiet, I did mix them with a little more water then called for,
but Kiwi Melon is great, and grape, peach mango wasn't bad either.

I always use 1/2 Vanilla 1/2 Chocolate and mix it in a blender then add
ice. It helps get rid of the chalky texture. I always drink it through a
straw. Hopefully that will help.

I drink Isopure Zero Carb in Creamy Vanilla (you can add unsweetened
chocolate and/or vanilla to doctor it up a bit if you like - but it's also
fine as is). It has 50 grams of protein in it and as the name says, zero
carbs. I also like the Isopure flavored drinks in Fruit Punch, Sour Apple,
etc. They have 40 grams of protein in a 20 oz bottle. Both can be
purchased online or at The Vitamin Shoppe - I also saw them in a GNC but
GNC wanted about $20 more a container than online or the Vitamin Shoppe.
Yikes! I've also tried Unjury, EAS and Atkins and they were all fine as
well. I've heard Matrix Whey and Whey Gourmet powders are good but I
haven't tried them myself. Good luck!

The best tasting protein drink I have tried. is by a company named Syntrax.
I love the lemonade and the peach(fuzzy navel). They can be mixed with
plain water or juice.
No, you should not have to drink them forever. Eventually you will be able
to get enough protein from your meals. at least that is what my
nutritionist told me

90 days post op and at 100 lbs lighter (65 since surgery). Get the good
protein cause it is worth it mixes well and traist great too.
