I don't know if your post op or not. I assume so, I felt that way for about 6 weeks right after WLS. Everyone is different tho. You may also be fighting off a bug....hope not. Carole M.

Hi. I felt the same way too during my first two weeks post-op. I am now three weeks out, and I am not as sensitive to smells anymore. I thought I was going crazy before, but now it is better. Just know you aren't alone on this one... Brooke

Now that you mention it...I vaguely remember that smells did bug me too...I almost forgot about it...It's probably normal because our tastes change too and that is certainly related!

Yep. Completely normal! I hated the smell of everything--even water for several weeks. I'm 2 months now--as I think of it, i think it's getting better. I'm sure your will pass too.

The first 3 weeks would make me a little sick to my stomach. My husband would fix certain foods and I wouldn't throw up I would just be sick for the rest of the day. Now it's getting better.....I think it comes with time. Good Luck

I will be post op 2 years on 2/15/09 and smells still get to me. Not every day mind you, but truly - the smell of food grosses me out a lot, often and then goes away, etc. My PCP prescribed something to help with the nausea. good luck.

Just like everyone else says, yes it is normal. Just how long it lasts is an individual thing. Mine lasted for almost 6 mos. I know it's aweful, but just think of all you're not eating when you feel that way. I actually wish I had more of that now after 10 mos. Now my appitite is back and I don't have an intolerance to sugar, so I am back at some of my old habits, espically during the holidays. Haven't lost any weight in couple of months. With new year starts a new me again. Good Luck with your weight loss, Paula B.
