You could maybe have something simple like scallops that are pretty soft (if they're cooked right, that is!). But you must avoid those cheesy rolls and other carbs--that's a slippery slope you don't want to go back to. Whatever you get should be broiled, not fried. I recommend asking your surgeon to see if they want you eating any meat this early...

I don't think Red Lobster has anything mushy on their menu. Perhaps some baked white fish would be the easiest to tolerate. Call your nutritionist for suggestions. Good luck, Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC

They have soups but they are quite rich...clam chowder and perhaps only a dry soda cracker with it but ask the surgeon before hand. He may suggest something else?

On my soft food diet I had white flaky fish. I also had lobster bisque soup on my soft food diet. The flaky pieces of lobster I mushed with a spoon and ate them little by little.

See if they have seafood or fish chowder. I'm sure they do. Then order a baked piece of fish and crumble it into the chowder for extra protein. Don't try this with clam chowder, as the clams are too chewy. There's always a way around things, enjoy yourself!

You can order soup or mashed potatoes. You may want to check out the menu online before you go.

You can have baked white fish and baked potato....but if you are already eating pizza then I would say you can eat anything. You really need to be careful....the slow intrduction to food is important.......and if you are already cheating haow well are you going to be able to stay on this........just a thought......your craving can be taken care of later down the line.

Baked fish or scallops are always a good choice as long as you don't do any fried food. I had broiled scallops the first time I went out to dinner and everything went down well. I wouldn't suggest the soup, only because you shouldn't have liquids a half hour before and 45 min.-to an hour after your protien. If you have the soup then you run the risk of pushing your food through too fast and dumping, etc. I would order apple sauce instead of soup or salad and I tolerated it well. The most important thing is to eat SLOW! I can't tell you how many times I ate too fast and got that stuck feeling in the middle of my chest. The last thing you want at a business dinner is to get sick in the middle of it. It's not plesant to have people staring and wondering what's wrong. Good luck with your dinner.

I would suggest eating before you. This will ensure that you go to the table full. Then when you get there, drink lots of ice water, which shrinks your pouch. Then order a side soup or small appetizer.

When I was just 4 weeks out and had business appointments and lunchens and dinner to attend, I just called the establishment in advance and explained that I had surgery and had very limited foods that I could eat. I told them what I needed and everyone always arranged to have the right foods for me when I arrived. I tried to stick to a broth soup and soft vegatables, and in the case of Red Lobster, try a few on's of fish or shrip that you realy like. I was surprised how cooperapative these establishments could be and they thanks me for calling them in advance. I was not embarresed because they expected me and I just identified myself to the waiterest or waiter and they knew what I needed.

My first meal out was also ate a seafood place..(Not Red Lobster though....and I ordered an appetizer as my meal...No bread, no sides...Just coconut shrimp. I got my water with lemon in a "To Go" cup and waited to drink that in the car ride home (30 min later) I got 6 large shrimp and was only able to eat 1 and a half...Be careful of grazing...At a dinner gathering it's easy to sit and eat very slowly...You'll be able to eat a whole lot more if you spread out a meal over an hour or more...So eat your food and immediately ask for a box to take the rest home or you will be tempted to sit and graze on your meal. Pay attention! Listen to your pouch above all (unless your boss is talking lol) Good habits are hard to learn...This is the perfect seting to tet yourself...If you over eat ...you get get horribly nauseas...Don't do it! :) Have fun...Shrimp is nice and soft as is most fish...

You're kidding about the pizza right? You're 1 month out and already eating pizza? You need to think about why you had the surgery in the first place...

As lomg as your Doctor says it is "ok" to eat meat, I would stick with broiled and I would tell the wait person that you are on a restricted diet and would like the chef to avoid broiling it in "butter" but olive oil instead. Ask for a green vegetable, if they do not have one then get a small salad with Balsamic Vinegarette dressing. I would be very surprised if you even felt like eating anything after the meat, REMEMBER to eat slowly, chew a lot, nothing to drink 15 minutes before and 45 minutes after ( I always ask for a "to go" cup to take my tea with me). Pay attention to what your body tells you and you will be fine. Pizza? Have you lost your mind? The amount of fat, carbs, etc, etc !!! Oh well, I assume you are a grown up, right? I am 7 years post op and I am starting to see a lot of my fellow surgical patients fall prey to old/bad habits and it can really undo all the work you have done to get healthy. Just when we think we have this thing called obesity licked, we can be reminded of our humilty really quickly by stepping in the scale and seeing how fast it will come back. It reminds me of the movie "The Awakening". We have all worked so hard to feel "normal" and if we lose sight of where we have come from, we can go back there really quickly. I am sorry I am rambling on, just be careful. Annie

Red lobster is an awesome place to eat - they have a "lighthouse" menu with lots of fishes that are cooked with low fat and carbs. And what's better - you can order a half portion or a full portion. Order a baked potato, get a light flaky fish and chew, chew, chew, and I bet you'll be just fine. If you can handle pizza, you can handle Red Lobster. You can check out the menus here: http://redlobster.com/menus/ - select Lighthouse and put in your zip code to find your local restaurant. Whenever I go to a restaurant now, I always try to check out the menu on-line before going so I can have a few options in my head and won't have to think of what might be appropriate while trying to carry on a conversation with other people - that can be so stressful. Good luck!

you need to go with a plan to eat, don't just plan to survive, but succeed. They have soup, and soup fills very well. They have salads, and chew well, but you can do a salad. They will have their biscuits, yum, but be careful to eat small bites of the biscuit, and then other foods to push it through. Plan on half a biscuit only, put the other half away. Sip your soup, and nibble your salad, you will do just fine. Shrimp is also a good choice for me anyway. I eat a lot of shrimp and it goes down well, however, I am 4 years out. Be careful and don't drink alcohol, alcohol is never a good choice for wls patience. Take care. Patricia P.

shrimp goes down good forme too, but the real reason I am posting is a lot of people got all in an uproar over you haveing pizza. Im sure you didnt sit there and eat the whole darn thing! I had a bit of pizza last week. I'm 5 weeks out. This surgery is to help us be normal not on a diet.

Red Lobster was my 1st out to eat restarant and I ordered Grilled Shrimp, which came with a salad and fresh veggies. I was able to share with my son and have left overs for a few days.
