Question:
What should be on my Post-Op Checklist for Lap RNY?
Thank you to all that have responded to my previous post regarding how WLS has unexpectedly changed your life . Now I guess the next thing to ask you is; what do you recommend I take along for my post op hospital stay? I have heard that a fan and chapstick are helpful. What else? What should I have prepared or on hand when I finally return home? I will be having lap RNY, in case that matters for your input. — frothiebarwench (posted on February 6, 2007)

Take something to do - hospitals are very boring, andyou cannot walk ALL
the time. Books, crossword puzzle bokks, magazines, needlework, anything
you like to do. A comfortable robe is nice so you are covered up. Your
own slippers. Your cpap machine, if you have one.
As for what you should have when you get home, get a list of foods you can
eat from your docotr. Probably liquids for the first month or so. Protein
mix, pudding, popsicles, jello mix.

Hi Debbie I was kinda thinking the same thing. My surgery is schedualed for
mon the 12th and I dont know what to pack Im having lap band and go in on
mon and am home on tues. I had pre op yesterday and they said to wear loose
clothing when I come in then they'll give me a gown to put on. I had a robe
and as far as slippers Im very clumsy with the ones I have so I borrowed
socks from my dad that has the slippy things on the bottom. If you have any
ideas let me know and vise versa. I go to the surgeon tomorrow for my final
appointment before surgery so If I get any ideas I'll let ya know.

I'm 2 weeks post op, I live in NM and had to go to TX for a week. I took
the needle work and puzzles and things like that but what was the most
helpful was lots of pillows to be comfortable, and warm clothes, I was very
cold after.
