Question:
could you warm the atkins protein drinks and have them instead of coffee?
would it hurt the protein any? — CAROL M. (posted on September 13, 2005)

It is my understanding that unless the protien is specifically engineered
for heat - if you heat it up, you will lose the protien content.

Heat coagulates protein. You cannot warm it up. If there are proteins
designed to heat up, I have never heard of them.

I don't think you can heat up the atkins drinks without hurting the protein
but I have some protein that I ordered from bariatriceating.com &
vitalady.com that can be mixed with hot water to give you the same effect.
I heat my water in my coffee pot so it isn't too hot. Another important
thing is you add only enough water to make a paste 1st & stir it until
it is blended & no longer has any lumps. Then add the rest of the water
to your cup. It works great that way. If you add teh water all at once or
if the water is too hot it makes nasty rubbery clumps that you just can't
drink. I've tried chocolate mint & cafe mocha this way & they are
great!

I just heard from the Atkins corp. They say you can heat up the canned
drinks or use them in coffee and it does not affect the protein.

I have never tried that. I like mine with ice, or ice cold. Let us know how
it tastes.
