This isn't a challenge, just a question: why do you have to stop taking
children's chewables at the end of four weeks? I prefer the chewables
because they're portable, and I don't have to think about having water
available when it's time to take one. I compared the labels on the
children's chewables to regular adult vitamins, and see that the children's
actually has either the same amount of vitamins and minerals, or more, than
the adult vitamins. So, I continue to take the children's chewables. Did
you doctor advise you otherwise? If so, find out what s/he wants you to
take.

I take Centrum Chewables, they have the 100% of iron you need daily, and
they have folic acid, that women need, I do not think the flintstone vits
have folic acid, or very little. You only have to take one a day, and it
taste very good, I can not stand the taste of the children's vits, they are
to sweet.

I agree with Vespa, there is no need to stop taking Flinestones unless you
are trying to get pregnant then you would need to switch to a prenatal. I
have been on flinestones for 13 mos, my labs are fine except my calcium and
iron and thats b/c I neglect to take those. Good Luck. heather 8/15/02

A lot of WLS professionals are now saying that Flintstone's are not the
best or as I would put it, crap. I take prenatal capsules twice a day and
all blood work, and it has been extensive, is great. Considering that we
malabsorb a bit or a lot depending I would think that the better the
quality and potency the better off we will be. I love the capsule because I
can't stand chewable vitamins. I do, however, take Twinlab chewable calcium
citrate and really like those.

I take nature made adult miltivitamin chewables. I am 2 months post op, and
have been taking those since week one. You can get them at costco, and they
aren't too expensive. they taste good too! orange flavor. :-)

Other than a prenatal or a bariatric vitamin, which would be better, there
is no difference between the Centrum childrens chewables and the Centrum
adult chewables or swallowables. They have exactly the same ingredients,
including folic acid. This is assuming you are not taking a senior or
women's version. My surgeon requires us to take one twice a day because of
the fact that we might not absorb everything from just one. A childs dose
is 1/2 a pill but an adult dosage is a whole pill. I am still using the
Rugrats chewable vitamins just because it is easy. I figure I have to take
the 4 HUGE calcium citrate with vitamin D's so I'll go for the chewables.
I originally bought the adult chewable but did not like the taste so I got
the kids. Now I tolerate either one. It's fine to keep using the kids
chewables as long as your labs look good. If I was going to change I would
probably go to a bariatiric vitamin even though they are more expensive.

I would do some research on vitamins, remember there are no FDA regulations
on them which means alot of them are coated with shellac, test them by
dropping one in a glass of water and see how long it takes to dissolve, if
it doesnt start within minutes, how long do you think it will take to
dissolve in your stomach. I take Amway Double X, they are more expensive
but they are worth it. It takes less than a minute for them to start
dissolving. Find a distributor and see if they will sell to you wholesale.
I would reccommend the bariatric ones too but again they are more
expensive. The dailys from Amway are less expensive so that may be an
option for you.
