The actual time table will depend on the person. However, walking around
really helps. Gas-X chewables or the tabs that melt on your tongue will
help alot.

Remember the some of the "gas" discomfort is not in your bowels
where you can fart it out. The use a gas to blowup you abdominal cavity
during surgery to enhance the visability. Your body will absob this soon.
Walking will promote bowel peristaltisis which will keep that end happy.
Congrats on your weight loss surgery

My surg was 11.3.08. When I came home 2 days post op I looked 8 mos preg..
but things started rolling along around 3-4 days and especially after
walking. also when you are on your back try rolling side to side. It is
hard and my hurt but I found that helped move things along. Once the gas
started moving I had liquid stools but that too cleared up after about 3
days. It was ablout a good week before things became regular in that area.
Just be patient and give it time. Walk, Walk and Wald

it takes a while, just continue walking, walking, walking it is your best
option. gasx chewables are wonderful too. i had surgery on mon came home
wed and had my first bm thurs, which was liquid and black (coffee ground
appearance) with some blood-needless to say, even though i'm a nurse i was
scared! everything was ok and once i had that first bm the gas slowly
started going away and i had more bms each day and the abdominal
discomfort/gas got better each day. walking was my best friend and you will
find that if you sit alot you will become more and more uncomfortable from
gas and just general soreness. hope this helps, Holly

I had surgery on a thursday and didn't get rid of any until the sunday
after..and that was with the help of a bumpy car ride that lasted about 1
hour...the bumpiness helped me out and I felt so much better afterwards!
hugs, Kim
