How are you eating it. I had surgery on jun 30th and still get sick if I
eat too fast or too much or dry tough meat or fast food or food that is too
fatty...There are many reasons for getting sick....it is hard to answer...

Try eating what you did at earlier times, tuna, eggs, cheese, cottage
cheese, yogurt, try to eat more often and eat very slow and chew your food
very well. I find if I wait to long between meals, I eat too fast, hope
this helps. Good Luck!!!

You have to eat small portions. You're almost 12 wks out and eating issues
should not be a daily issue. Avoid dense meats for easier digestion. Take
small bites. You should be over "buyer's remorse" at this point.
Many have this thought a few days after surgery, but not 12 wks out. Eat
softer foods. Chew well, to begin digestion prior to swallowing. Go to
support meetings to address you questions with other post ops who may have
experienced your issues. You may want to contact your surgeon and get
checked out to see if there is anything causing you to become ill. You may
have to adjust your choice of foods--some "pouches" are very
sensitive to the foods consumed. DAVE

if you truly can't eat anything and you're sick all the time then you
really need to consult your doctor. This is a serious problem and can
result in severe malnutrition...

Have you been checked for a stricture? I had the same problem and had
strictures. Good luck!

Hang in there. .I had 2 weeks like that and now I am happy to say I havent
vomitted in 1 1/2 weeks. It does get better. Just be very careful on how
much you eat. Eat less then what you think.. I'm pretty sure that was my
problem.

It is not normal to not be able to eat anything. I would recommend
drinking protein shakes to get in some nutrition until you can be seen by
your surgeon which should be asap.

Dear Alicia! I am so sorry you have having this common, but scary problem.
I spent the first few months regretting my surgery for the same reason. It
does get better, I promise. It may be a stricture, which can be fixed with
an outpatient trip to the Doctor. Don't suffer without consulting your Doc.
I was unable to keep much down for several months! Everything got stuck,
hurt, and eventually came up within minutes of consuming. I finally
started eating the Sylvester Stallone protein puddings, which slid down and
did not get stuck. I also added Unjury Unflavored protein powder to soups,
to make sure I was getting nutrition. I could only eat one spoon of food
every ten minutes...it was frustrating. Over time. I began to know what
food would cause problems, and my opening did stretch eventually. Now, I am
able to enjoy a wide variety of foods. For some , it is more difficult for
me than others. I did not have the stricture fixed, it got better on it's
own, but I could have saved months of difficulty by taking care of it.
Also, I had to relearn to eat. I was a fast inhaler for forty years,
always hiding, eating quickly, eating in shame. RNY patients can no longer
eat fast or large amounts. We must chew. I was not a chewer before, and I
had to retrain myself. In closing, I am here if you need an ear, but do
call your Doctor to see if anything can be done to make you more
comfortable. Please do keep us posted. Very best wishes, Pam

CALL YOUR DOCTOR NOW. YOU MAY NEED AN EGD with DILATION like I did
yesterday! I've had the same problems for weeks. I throw up everything
that's not a liquid, no matter how little and slowly I eat, and how well I
chew it. I can't keep anything down, and it's getting worse daily, and I'm
getting weak. I used to could eat scrambled Egg Beaters and broiled fish
but throw even that up now. Yesterday I had an EGD with dilation for a
Gastrogastric Stricture. The surgeon did an endoscopic balloon dilation to
stretch the stoma (the surgically created part that connects our new pouch
to the intestine) with a balloon. I was dilated from a 6 mm (1/4 inch)
opening to 18 mm (3/4 inch). It took about 3 hours from prep thru dismissal
and I was put to sleep during the procedure. This is not an uncommon
post-op problem. Sometimes the stoma just closes too tightly during healing
and causes a Gastrogastric Stricture. Mine was scar tissue. These
strictures occur in 5% to 10% of patients after roux-en-y gastric bypass.
Follow-up dilations may be required (the nurse said 90% are resolved after
one dilation). Promise me you'll call your doctor first thing Monday
morning and ask him if this could be your problem! Keep in touch with me
... I do care!! I'll be praying for you!!

I had my surgery on 4/18/07 and was sick after I ate anything, too. The
only thing that saved me was digestive enzymes I got from the health food
store. I was finally able to take in more than 200 calories a day and keep
at least the protein shakes down (made with soy milk and water since I'm
now lactose intolerant). Check with your doctor, but the digestive enzymes
literally saved my life. I was sick for 10 months after surgery.
