Question:
Can you get a lap band if you have gotten the vertical band and it no longer works?
I had the vertical band surgery and it no longer works after I had two children and now I am back to my old weight of 255. Do anyone have suggestions on what I may be able to do. I paid 10,000 dollars for this surgery and is back to where I started with myh weight. I am so disappointed. — Bobbiedavison (posted on March 1, 2008)

If you really want to take it off and keep it off go for a RNY Gastric
Bypass. I have freind thta did the Lab Band and they have put their weight
back on and are just sick to see me keep loosing in three month more than
they did in a year. A good surgeon will tell you if he will do the
revision and recomend what is best for you. I am on the east coast of
north Florida and Dr. Marema is one that will do revisions. He had done
more than 6000 surgeries and is great. I am sure their are some good
surgeons near you, but that is the person you need to get the final word
from. Don't get discouraged. I took three years to decide what to do, and
I never have regreted WLS which has made a new me with more engery than I
ever had before.

You will have to covert to Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. They actually take
our 85% to 95% of your stomach instead of stapling as in the verital
banding. Pat

My story is very similar to yours. I had VGB done 9 years ago. Although I
had the VGB I never lost very well. In June of 2007 I had a revision done
and had an open RNY done. I have done fantastic! I started out at 267 and
am 5'7". It is now 8 1/2 months later and I am at 175. I look great
and feel even better! I still want to lose about 25 or 30 more pounds. I
am wearing size 10's. I am so glad I did this. The VGB was a waste of
time, energy, emotions and money!!!! Also, insurance would not pay for
this so I went to Mexico for my surgery and am VERY pleased with that
experience.
