You should probably check with you Dr. to see what he wants you to do, but I had a few small bites of cooked vegetables after I was one month post-op. You need to be sure not to fill up with vegetables and not be able to get in your protein. It's really different, we are so programed to eat vegetables and fruit but now things are different. I hope this helps. Good Luck! Vickie

Checking with YOUR surgeon/nutritionist is always the first stop to make, but...mine had me on liquids for a month following surgery before introducing soft foods...anything pureed! Good Luck! :O)

I was not allowed some veggies for a month and a half. Hard to digest beggies even longer. Every doctor has a different idea. Did your doctor not give you a diet to follow?

Hi--I'm no expert, but in my humble opinion, I found that I couldn't tolerate vegetables for about six months out. Then they had to be cooked to mush. It was almost a year out before I could eat a raw baby carrot. Munch munch munch, chew chew chew. Now I'm 13 months out and enjoy most all vegetables, but still in moderation. Don't rush it. You want to get your protein in before anything else. Forget about salads, and don't try to eat much. You want your pouch to stay small for the rest of your life, not just until you lose some weight. It's a life long commitment to lose weight. No more two pound salads, ever. Try cooked squash or green beans if you must eat vegetables, and make sure the veggies are cooked well.
