Question:
My husband doesn't like the protein drinks
We have Isopure liquid and Myploex Lite Powder. He doesn't like the after taste of the whey. — GrandmaNette (posted on May 31, 2006)

I also didn't like the taste of the protein drinks. I solved this by
making protein shakes from carnation instant breakfast 0 carb (no sugar),
tasteless whey protein (from GNC) 8 oz of milk and ice cubes. I mixed it
up in a shaker or blender. It doesn't taste "fake" like some
protein mixes do - and the carnation instant breakfast comes in four
flavors. For a special treat I add in sugar-free ice icream like a
milkshake! It's fairly low in calories around 240 - and with the whey
added it comes to 30 grams of protein. Hope this helps.

I also had a hard time with those nasty tasting protein shakes until I
tried "Muscle Milk" chocolate flavor. It also comes in
strawberry and vanilla but chocolate tastes best to me. You can find them
at any GNC. ~Melissa

There are literally hundreds of suitable protein products on the market
today vs back in the 90's when I had my surgery and the choices were: grit
or slime. I don't care for either of those models, either. But there are
lots of powders that are beyond tolerable, all the way to totally nummy,
and they mix with water, so no empty calories added. Buy samples and try
them different ways. I love my ProScore 100 choc, Pure Whey Stack choc
& IDA Cinnamon Vanilla. Currently, I'm mixing the stack choc + the
cin-van in hot water and it's exquisite!

Hi! The Isopure liquid is nasty! However, Isopure does make a good
protein powder that I mix with water. It tastes like YooHoo. I think it's
like dutch chocolate or something. Just mix 2 scoops with 8 oz of water
and it has 50g of protein. It's not too bad!

I never liked any of them, and it was not a requirement of my surgeons to
use them. They help most early on, after a few months he should be able to
get all his protein from real foods if he wants too.

if your husband likes the carnation instant breakfast ( which I use too)
you can add for more protein: half a banana, or half a banana + peanut
butter.
AS I didn't like the protein drinks that what I do , and I usually take it
as breakfast. take care,

I have tried several different types of protien powder and I found that I
like Unjury best. I get the chocolate and I add about a 1/2 tsp of baking
cocoa powder to it in 8 oz skim milk, or somtimes I will add some instant
decaf coffee to make a mocha shake. Good Luck, Monica

You could try the CHAMPION PURE WHEY STACK protein powder...I think it
tastes great! I didn't like any of the others before trying this brand.
The chocolate is definitely the best, but I've tried all the flavors &
like them all...no aftertaste that I've found. DPS Nutrition seems to have
the best prices too...you can get a big 5 lb jug for only $24.90...&
they also have low S&H charges. I've been using them for years:

If it does not make you sick try low fat milk 11 grams per serving Screw
protien drinks they would make a billy goat puke. I drink 4 servings of
milk a day and my labs are perfect. If he can do it try that.

try pro-stat, it is a little pricey at $30 for about a 16 day supply, but
it's worth it, the serving size is 2 tablespoons, ther serving has 15gr of
protein. you can get it online.
