Question:
Consult Questions???...I have my consult, psych eval and appt with internist

all on Friday (4/7/06). What besides the usual questions should I be asking? Are there questions that anybody had wished they had asked in the beginning? Things are moving very fast for me and my head is spinning, I don't want to forget to ask anything in the consult. HELP!!!!!!    — Karen R. (posted on April 4, 2006)

If this is your initial consult, the doctor should be providing all the information. You will have more opportunities to ask all the questions you can think of -- and of course, you have to write them down when they come to you so you can remember to ask them at your next appointment. I checked your profile and didn't see what type of surgery you are looking at... I would ask what type of surgeries do you perform? If he doesn't perform the Duodenal Switch, then I'd make an appointment with someone who does and talk with that doctor too. You are in California -- what I call DS heaven -- three of the best DS doctors in the world live there! I'm currently in Brazil to have one of the best surgeons because my insurance would not pay for the surgery in the US. The more you read, the more informed you will be and the more questions you will know to ask. *Good luck!*
