Question:
Could the RNY cause elevated liver enzyme levels and dilated ducts leading to liver?
I had the RNY in January of 2004. In 2005 my liver enzyme level was 41. It is now 84. I just had some tests that included a CAT Scan. The scan showed that the pancreas duct and some of the other ducts leading to the liver are dilated. Because of the pouch they are not able to see to the pancreas. — terrylynn (posted on April 27, 2010)

i had my RNY in Sept 2004. just last year i ,too, developed elevated liver
enzymes. i was watched for almost a year. the levels never went very high
and stayed stable. i then went to a liver specialist who determined (after
a sonogram of my abdomen that also could not visualize my pancreas)that i
had a "fatty liver". i asked why did i develop this now, as
opposed to when i fat. the answer was.... he didn't know. i did some
internet searching and found this is a not-so-uncommon event. there is
nothing to be done for it, just keep an eye on it. good luck

I too am having elevated liver enzymes at 6 years PO with no trouble
prior...Doc is not sure why...but I am taking Milk Thistle to try to lower
the enzymes...I have to retest soon...Just going to keep an eye on it like
everyone else seems to be doing.
