Has anyone with MS had Lap-Band Surgery?

I have MS and am having lap band in June. My well known neurologist who specializes in MS supports me. He has seen my weight increase with every relapse and my weight is now causing issues. I am on MS meds, rebif injections too. I have researched this topic and have found it to be favorable. I also talked to several MS lap band and gastric patients who feel good about the choice.

I have a good friend who has MS and she had RNY 1 year ago. She is doing well. The surgery doesnt seem to affect the Ms.Good luck Nancy Canada

I have had MS for almost 10 years and had the RNY in February. I did have an ileus and ended up back in the hospital for 5 days. MD won't say for sure if the MS was related, but maybe. Otherwise, no problems, I feel great now! I do take Avonex IM injectioj once a week and for the 2 weeks after my surgery I skipped them. First one per my MD and second week because I just couldn't face it. When I finally did take it 3 weeks later I had no problems, just the usual side effects(flu like). I wish you the best of luck!
