Interesting. I would have to say that there isn't life without body issues
and food issues. We have bodies and we have to eat. I don't know *anyone*
without these issues, no matter their size. The question then becomes:
what will the issues become as you lose weight... I imagine that my
conflicts will be in recognizing what I'm feeling in my body and finding
ways to express it but the positive and the negative. I imagine that I
will have to learn how to accept real intimacy and desire. I am looking
forward to not being numb but I also know that part of me went numb to
protect myself so as I loss weight, I will have to deal with all of the
things that were trapped in the fat. My life will be filled with all of
the things it is filled with now-- joy, grief, anger, empathy but I hope to
recover from the numbness and face the conflicts rather than smothering
them. How about you?

Once the conflicts about your body has been resolved, you can handle
anything. The conflicts have given you strength and courage to face the
world. Your life would be in your control not the other way around.

WHY do you have to go for 6 seeions i only had to go one time

I only had to go once. I told her I didn't really have an issue with my
body or the amount of food I ate. It was the type of food I ate and my
health that was the problem and that is why I had chosen the surgery I did.

Dear SH, It sounds like you are getting a lot of good from your
Psychologist because you are open to the questions you are being asked.
This is a good sign - she is only trying to help you. I spent a whole day
with my psychologist before the surgery and I got a lot of benefit from
that time. I still think a lot about that day and want to make another
appointment with her for a "booster". My psychologist gave me a
MMPI test which asked over 700 questions. Good luck!

This is a personal question...and it's a part of YOUR psych exam to see if
YOU are ready for the surgery. In my humble opinion, I don't think you
should ask people to help you with your homework for your own good! I know
that probably sounds mean and blunt...but I say it with only your success
and well being in my mind and my heart, even though you will probably still
not like what I had to say...I hope you at least think about because WLS is
not the easy way out and your HEAD and thoughts do not get operated on...so
the psych exam is really truly for you own benefit! Sorry for the brutal
honesty!

For everyone that keeps thinking that Sl1pp1ng Halo is asking for help with
"homework answers" or is looking for someone to give her an
answer I think you've misinterpreted the post. She posted this (I believe)
as a question that would start a fun, thought provoking post that would get
us all thinking about how WE would answer the question if someone asked us.
I believe that she probably already has the answer to the question as it
pertains to herself. I think it's basically a question not unlike "How
do you think your life will change when you have lost your weight and are
feeling better about your body"?
I believe that once I have lost my weight my life will be...easier because
I will have accomplished a major goal in my life that has been all
consuming for a long time and because my body will work better for me not
against me.
