Question:
Pain in the Rib Cage Area 6 mos post-op
I am having pain in the rib cage area just below my breasts but on the sides mostly on the right but sometimes both sides...it feels like a pulled a muscle or something but it goes away and then comes back. Anybody ever experience this? What's up with that!!!! — Fredricka MacLean (posted on January 25, 2009)

Yeah, I def have those sharp pains, but in the front of my chest! I'm
assuming they are gas pains & I am just walking around alot &
trying to get them out. I had lapband surgery on 1-21-09 Hopefully, they
disapate soon!!!

Six months out from surgery I would think any gas from surgery would be
gone by now but I haven't had the surgery yet myself so I don't know that
for sure. My first thought was you may be experiencing symptoms of
gallstones. I've read here it is quite common after massive weight loss to
develop them. (And you have....you go girl!) Personally, I would call
& make an appt with the doc and let him check that out.

Hello, I have had my gallbladder out ,but not had my surgery yet. A
gallbladder attack can mimic many things. So it would really be best to go
to your Dr. and get it checked out. Sometimes you have to go through a
gamit of test before they will tell you that is what it is. If it is this
good luck it can be fixed. if it's gas you can fix that too.LOL I wish you
the best.:0)

Sorry to burst your gas bubble, but the gas NEVER goes away. It's one of
the unpleasant things about WLS that the docs don't tell you. They try to
justify by saying you are eating too fast or that you are lactose
intolerant etc. but take my 6 year post op view, It never goes away. I
dare you to test it. Take the required 30-45 min eating your food w/out
dairy and guess what....gas.... as for that pain, I still have it also
mostly on my left side. I am not sure what it is and I have never thought
it was gas. Wait until you try to do stomach crunches!! it's a killer!!
Wish you the best....

sounds like your gall bladder check with your Dr. If it is gas look sor gas
relief medicine with simethicone in it it is the active ingredient that
actualy gets rid of the gas. Hope this helps.
