Call me old fashioned, and I do like to travel don't get me wrong, I just
have a bad feeling about it and want to have my plastics in the states.
From surgeons I know and trust for the actual surgery to around the corner
follow ups.

Steve, I have been at that cross-road and lived in Europe, Asia, S.America,
so all those "cheap, state of the art" ideas have crossed my
mind. I am 3 yrs Post RNY. But I have worked in the medical practice
field and have see it all go bad right in our country and others too -
nothing but terrible aftermath.
After 2 years of stabilizing I had tummy tuck/lipo/thigh lift, and breast
aug. The temptation was there to do the cheap fix (more hubby than I trying
to be thrifty), but I explained to hubby - its not worth my life. If I
took the time to do RNY right and am healthy, then I need to do the FU on
Plastic right too - its my life. I do have to go in for a revision to my
thigh lift, but what I had was a "lets try it and see if it
works" approach between my surgeon and I. I knew ahead of time that
if it didnt work, I would come back again.
I am pleased that I have never caved in to my whims of being thrifty and
worldliness - over my sensibility to do Plastic surgery the right way,
under the supervision of a local Dr. After plastic, there were so many FU
appts when I didnt drain right from tummy tuck and other Drs. dont like
mucking around on other drs. work.
I did my homework, searched for the right Dr. It was my luck that she was
one of the best in the U.S., but I didnt get a reasonable price like I
would have liked. Hubby said its the "best BMW" he has ever paid
cash for, and was glad that I talked my sense into him and did it right.
But key words you used, "complete my journey, image improvement, the
right decision", as well as "YOUR LIFE" is worth whatever it
costs here locally. Make the right decision and do it locally. Good luck
Steve, you have to be comfortable with YOUR decision, no one else.

Steve- You may not like my OPINION, but please consider staying with
Doctors in this country. If there is a problem, it is a long trip to fix
it, and with plastic surgery and all the follow up issues, I would look in
the US and find someone you can afford and like. Best of luck, remember,
your body, your decision

Hi Steve,
I had my RNY done in Mexico, and have been looking into traveling to India
for plastic surgery. I work with many people from India, and they are going
to help me out as far as the travel arrangements go. Since the majority of
my doctors here in the States are from India anyways, the cost savings of
traveling to the other side of the world have beaten down my usual
"surgury is not the time to find a bargain" thoughts. When I can
pay $5000 for travel to, and surgery in India, instead of $40-50,000 here,
I have no issues with taking on a chance on having to have any follow-up
done here. Please let me know if you find any good information, and I'll
make sure to share any info I can find with you as well!
Best regards,
Amy
