Question:
What are you eating to lose 4-5 pounds a week?
I had my surgery January 14, 2008. I have lost 38 pounds and now I am at a stand still. Can someone tell me what are you eating to lose 3-4 pounds a week? I have ran out of things to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Can someone help me out with this? — fayfay35 (posted on March 4, 2008)

1200-1500 calories is what we should be taking in normally. Cut each day
by 100 calories and you WILL loose. Journaling is amazing, it is a mirror
of what you are truly eating. Sometimes we tell ourselves, I'm hardly
eating anything, but we are comparing our eating habits to how we used to
eat. Journaling helps us to reflect what we are actually taking in. Good
Luck!

I eat cottage cheese every morning. A half cup is around 90 calories and
has about 11g of protien. Add a small half cup of fruit, drained of juice
and get 70 more calories and 4 more g's of protien. I do a can of soup,
ready to eat, for about 220 calories and 16 g's of protien. There is lots
of variety there. For dinner, we call it supper here in the south, I have
chicken or fish, a green veggie or salad with VERY little dressing.
Averages 1200 to 1500 a day. I track on fitday.com.

The book "Weightloss surgery for dummies" says...you will be
taking in 400-800 calories for the first year. I don't know how,
personally, because I am alway to the higher side of that with a protein
drink plus the little food I do eat. Good luck and congrats on your
loss...that is alot of weight! Be proud!

Hi there! I also had surgery 1-14 (Lap RNY). I am down 40 lbs as of this
morning. I had a stand still at about 32lbs. It wasnt what I was EATING
that made me start losing again. Its what I was DOING. As long as I am
going to the gym at least every other day (just walking on the treadmill
for 30-40 min) I lose. Try moving more and see if that works for you! :)

Congratulations on your weight loss, you are doing great. It seems we all
hit the 5-6 week mark and then we plateau. As you have probably read from
other posts, it lasts about 2-3 weeks and then you will be amazed you will
start losing rapidly again. I found with me, my protein drinks are still
important. Exercise in any form that you are able to do where you don't
hurt yourself. Hang in there!!!

I am about 4.5 months out from RNY. I'm happy with my weight loss progress
BUT I have run into some short term plateaus. The way I've gotten past
these is to do what the fitness experts say, which is to increase physical
activity and to mix up what you do. It was very annoying to hear that since
I already was going to the gym 6 days a week, working on an eliptical and
treadmill plus lifting weights!! (BTW, weight lifting can make a big
difference since muscle burns more calories. So that should be a part of
your exercise no matter what.) I've mixed it up since and tried Pilates, a
Latin Dance class, and lately an aerobics class. Plus I now walk/run. It
seems like a ridiculous amount of exercise -- but I believe the constant
variety is what helps. My support group leader said that your body gets
used to routine after a few weeks, so you need to surprise it. I'm now down
80 lbs.
