Question:
can i shock my body into weight loss at months?
im 8 months out and been at a plateau for about 2 months. I know im cheating and its my fault, but i really want to kick it into gear now and make some changes. can i kick start it by doing a liquids diet for 2 weeks again? will this shock my body into weight loss or will it think its in starvation mode and hold on to all my fat? — wecangetright (posted on September 18, 2007)

Don't get hooked on the quick easy way. You will continue to cheat and
fall back on that and it's not healthy. You really need to make the
committment and do what you know you need to do for your long term health!

It's not really a "plateau" if you are cheating--- it's just that
you are not gaining because your body is still not fully absorbing all the
carbs and calories.
You don't need two weeks of just liquids. Although some people say that
going to strict liquids can help them refocus on what they need to do,
boost their protein intake and help cleanse their system of the carbs that
are prompting blood sugar spikes and the attendant cravings. Rather than 2
weeks of liquids, how about committing yourself to at least 2 weeks of high
protein, low-carb, balanced, planned and measured meals and snacks? And,
if two weeks of that program seems like too daunting a task, think about
committing to two days-- or to the next two meals. The goal is to set
attainable goals that you can repeat (remember, cheating is not a reward)
and repeat until you get to your goal weight, and to then use those same
goals (or a version of them) to help you maintain your weight.
Remember, ultimately you need to kickstart your mind as much as your body--
and you have lots of peers here to help you.

I am almost one year out and I too am starting to see some bad habits
coming back. I am a little worried. I have gone back to writing down all
my food choices for the day. I have gone back to paying really close
attention. The one thing that I think is important, everyone is a critic
until they are in your shoes...so remember that just by writing down your
issue on this website is a really big step and that you still have the
power to keep losing. You can do it and you are not alone...we all
stumble. Your question is helping me right now. I hope I have helped you.

Your body will hold onto the fat. Kick yourself into gear with aerobic
movement. Eat tons of fresh fruit and vegetables. No processed foods. No
added fats. High fiber. Lots of tea and vegetable broth. You'll break your
plateau. Promise! Love, Lisa http://TheSkinnyOnline.blogspot.com
