I had my surgery Sept 29th 2005 and all I needed was a robe cause they want you up and walking ASAP a pair of slippers for the same reason a tube of chapstick and a pillow to hold on your tummy when you cough and some really comfy clothes for the ride home.Good Luck Pam

I had surgery 4 weeks ago and I was told only to bring a toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash. Even though the hosptial supplied those items. I also took ankle socks for walking and loose fitting clothes for the ride home.

The only thing I couldn't have done without was a hairbrush and lip balm. The hospital can provide other things as needed. To address the question about ipods, laptops etc .. I was strongly advised by the hospital not to bring any valuables whatsoever .. not even jewelry. They will not be accountable for theft, and you will likely be too "out of it" to enjoy those items anyway. I barely even read the book I brought.

My hospital stay was the nightmare from hell! (Read the profile if you want to know). Had I known, this was what I'd taken: 1) No matter how much extra it cost... a PRIVATE room! 2) A huge robe. My butt was flapping in the breeze from the tiny hospital robe. It was em-bar-"assing". (Parden the pun). 3) An abdomial binder! 4) My bedroom slippers 5) Plenty to read. 6) An MP3 player and headphones I would'nt take a laptop unless you have some way to chain it. That would be very tempting. You may sleep to deep and lose it.

A 21" chain / necklace to hold one of your tubes while showering.
