Question:
I AM A PICKY EATER!! Any suggestions for high protein foods..that don't cause gas?
I have always been a picky eater, but I know now that I have to be careful wiht what I eat. I have been having a hard time with gas and the tummy rumbling thing. It seems like everything I eat gives me gas! I have tried everything I can think of to help with the gas and nothing is working!. Anyone have any good recepies for healthy eating? No soy products please..YUCK!!! Thanks! :0) — tammysue (posted on January 4, 2006)

Well i would ask first how far are you post op? If less than a month don't
worry about the protein thing. You have enough stored up to carry you for
a month. Afterwards however seafood and fish, chicken and red meat. I
didn't ever take a protein supplement and my levels on everything have been
perfect just by eating the right foods. Hope this helped if you have any
other question feel free to email me and ask.

Tammy, I would talk to your doctor and nutritionist about the problems you
are having. And do not write off soy products. As a non-meat eater for
the past 30 years, the "vegie" stuff has gotten much better.
Mike - thanks for your answer. I also am a VERY picky eater and cannot
stomach (ha ha) the drinks and other hi-protein things like yogurt, etc. I
am three weeks post-op and just starting purees, so fish, that I live on,
is still a while away. I am hoping that pureed tuna can get me through
these next two weeks.

Thanks for sharing. I am also a picky eater. I am even a pickier eater
now than ever before. I still have problems with gas and tummy rumbling
specially when I lay down at night. What work for me and I have less gas
is when I eat slower and I chew my food better. When I take my time (45
minutes per meal) eating and chewing I sleep better and I don't feel any
gas and my stomach does not rumble.
