Question:
I am only 10 days post-op. I am curious if I should count calories and fat grams?

I wouldn't at this point. You need to concentrate on eating protien and drinking water. Worry aboiut calories and fat later, your body needs as much protien as it can get right now.

I am not sure what your doctor is recommending but when I was at the same stage as you are my doctor was more concerned on how much water and protein I was getting in. Talk to your doctor and see what he recommends. Even now I do not have to count calorie or fat just make sure I am getting in my protein. Good luck! Laural HW - 313 BS - 292 PW - 231.5 GW - 135

Ever Doc is different, but this early, you need to be learning on you new pouch and what you can & cannot eat at this point. I was on pureed foods for 6 weeks. if you are eating already don't worry about the calories or fat at this point just eat slow & chew, chew, chew your food well. drink as much water as you can. good luck & congrats on being on the losing side of life Marilyn, the Bearlady

Didn't your doctor give you a diet? At this point, you should be concentrating on getting enough protein and water.

I have a very detailed menu of what and when I can eat certain foods. But always and forever it will be Protein first! I am also told to look at the sugars and carbs on labels! Even with yogurt, you will be surprised at the carbs and sugars sometimes. You want to eat High protein and low sugars and carbs. I am starting my 5th week post-op. I don't really pay attention to calories or fat grams. Good luck! If you have questions check with you doctors too!

Neither. You should follow the plan that your doctor gave you. Right now hydration is the most important thing.
