I am very leary of Jenny Craig. My mom did their diet and became so anemic
that she required serious iron treatments for many many months. She was
over 20 years post op and had always been borderline anemic, but continued
to take iron suppliments during the diet.

Although Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers tend to ultimately promote a
balanced approach to eating, for many of us their approaches tend to fail
for two reasons. First, no foods are truly excluded which can present lots
of issues for those of us wtih trigger foods (for me, I avoid sugar like
the plague). Secondly, because the programs emphasize moderation, many of
us (for whom moderation failed for the years that we became morbidly obese)
have difficulty sustaining them for the long term without the bright-line
rules that guide a lot of us post-operatively.
But, with everything we else we do, because we all came to our obesity by
different routes, what will help us sustain our new weights
post-operatively will also vary. Just do your research and evaluate how
those programs will work for you.

Hi Laura,
I personally would not do Jenny Craig if you are a post op, we have special
needs that their foods just might not have.
Many of us that are 2 or more years out have found ourselves gaining a bit
and have decided to back each other up and jump on a Protein train. Well
basically just get back with the program. You can find us on the WLS Grad
message board at

Would enjoy supporting you! Good luck!
