Hey,
When I first saw the surgeon on my base, the nurses weighed me, took my
BP, and all the standard things. Then, the surgeon came in, explained the
surgery he performed & asked me if I had any questions right off the
bat. He then gave me a sheet of paper with some websites on it and asked
that I do the research and come back to my next appt. with any questions I
had. Then, I laid down on the chair/table thing and he felt around my
stomach. He then asked me questions about my health and why I was choosing
to have this surgery. After we talked for a couple minutes, he asked me to
begin an exercise regime, drop about 5 pounds, and then gave me pamphlets
on eating after surgery, what to expect during your surgery, etc. He told
me I was a good candidate for surgery but that I did need to get approval
from a psychiatrist and nutritionalist before I would be 100% approved.
(The three of them together make the decision.) Finally, he I guess sort of
"warned" me to LOSE THAT 5 POUNDS! He said that it showed that I
took doctor's orders seriously and that would in turn make him feel better
that I'd be more cooperative about my after-care and do as I was told then.
Nothing too major so don't worry!
