Question:
Will I fit on rides or turnstyles

I have not been to Disney world since 1989...Before surgery I weighed 378lbs I now weigh 230 lbs I am 5'6 and i am a size 20. Last year I couldnt go to the movies..(didnt fit in seats) I couldnt take my kids to Mcdonalds(same thing couldnt fit in seats)...and so on....one time at a zoo I couldnt fit through the turnstyle and it was devastating... So I am a little worried about the plane seats and rides at disney. Can anyone who is my size or bigger let me know how they did there...and if there is anything I need to know before i go. I am really looking forward to the trip if i can just get past this. thank you    — Michelle S. (posted on July 27, 2001)

I am between 240 and 250 somewhere and I am 6'7", size 20/22. My hubby and I recently took our children to an amusement park. I was able to fit on most rides that I tried (except the swings). I was somewhat crunched but I fit. We had a wonderful time and I am sure you would as well. I say try it, chances are there will be very few rides that you wouldn't be able to ride. As for air travel, I haven't been anywhere on a plane since I weighed about 200lbs. Then it was okay, I am sure that you would be fine. Maybe you could call the airlines and ask for seat measurements (anymously). Good luck, have fun and congrats on the excelent results.

Michelle, I understand your concern and embarressment. I just flew home after having wls in another state. I fit in the plane seats, tight squeeze, but I fit. I had to ask for a seatbelt extender, but I bet at your current weight and size you will not need one. Have fun and enjoy life.

I went to Disney World last year and at 5'6'' and 300lbs there was not anything I couldn't ride and I did ride everything. Relax and enjoy your trip.

Michelle, I live in the Orlando area. YES, you will fit in the seats! I'm 256 and I just recently went to Sea World in Orlando and rode the roller coaster there. They actually had a seat at the start of the line that you could test out.. and believe me I did. I too have suffered the humiliation of not fitting into a seat at a theme park and didn't want to go thru that again. Have fun on your trip!

Hi, when I lived in Southern California, I used to go to Disney Land all the time, almost every weekend, never had any problems fitting on the rides or turnstyles. I am 5'4 and weighed 297 the years I was there. You'll be fine, have fun!! :)

I'm just under 5'10" and this past Oct. I weighed 278lbs and fit fine on the airplane. I didn't need an extender or anything. I didnt' have any issues with the rides at Disney. There were many people there alot larger than I at the time who appeared fine on the rides also. I think you'll do fine! Have a wonderful trip and continued success

I remember getting on the scrambler when I was around 18(I am now 29), and 270 pounds... I had to sit on the outside, because I am the big one, and if you know how how the scrambler is centrifugel force pulls everyone in the seat to the outside. I don't know if the lap bar was supposed to be welded in place, or if it was supposed to be welded at such an angle, but when the Carne came around to close the gate(because I was having a hard time with the lap bar on my legs)he slammed it once... it did not latch. he slammed it again, and again, and then finally got up on the ride's car we were in, and kicked it shut. I do not remember the ride... I just remember being horrified that I was too fat to ride it, and my legs were squashed by the lap bar. Needless to say after that ride was over I never rode another one again. I hope to have surgery soon...
