Question:
Has anyone seen the TV ad for Cal-Max?
I recently caught the tail-end of an infomercial for a product called Cal-Max. It is a powdered form of Calcium Gluconate that you mix with 8oz of hot water and it dissolves. You can add a tea bag or a little juice for flavor. I beleive a heaping teaspoon contains 1000 mg of Calcium G. Has anyone tried this? Can WLS patients take this? I am curious because I am having a hard time getting in all my pills and then 6 pills of calcium a day too. I haven't even started taking my iron yet. (I am 4 weeks post-op today). Thanks. — Maureen P. (posted on June 18, 2001)

But will it being in liquid form, er powder, push it through to quickly and
make the absorbtion less efficient. I'm not sure but I would suspect it
might be a problem. Good luck. :)

I also saw the Cal Max ad and actually found a similar supplement that was
a little less expensive that I am (so far) very happy with. Go to
www.takecalcium.com for more info.

Don't have any answers, but I've also seen that infomercial and wondered
the same thing!

Yes ,I drink cal-max. I am two years post from lap RNY and it doesn't make
any problems. It isn't the best flavored thing but, with some tea or juice
it's ok. I don't know about the Cal. being as good as it should be with us
passing things by faster but it does indeed make you relax and sleep 100%
better. Hope this helps,God Bless
