Question:
Nectar Protein Shakes
I'm 18 months post-op and am growing weary of the vanilla/chocolate protein shakes. If you've tried the Nectar protein shakes and like them, please share the brand/flavor that works best for you. I need a change. Thanks! — Vicki S. (posted on October 16, 2004)

I'm not sure of the brand, the package just says Nectar in big letters, but
the Roadside Lemonade and the Fuzzy Navel are awesome! It tastes just like
drinking juice, no chalky flavor. I've also been told that you can mix it
with Crystal Lite to make it taste even better!

I tried them all and I must say the Fuzzy Navel is the BOMB!! I mix it in
some orange crystal lite and I could drink it all day. I am very finicky
about the protein powders and this is one of the few I would highly
recommend.

The maker of NECTAR is syntrax. I have tried four of their drinks....They
were the only one I could tolerate after the surgery....others I found were
way too sweet! I did fuzzy navel and well didn't like it much. It
probably needed the crystal light mixture instead of water. I have done
roadside lemonade and I add lemon to it. Its not bad for a protein shake.
I love the strawberry kiwi one! Sometimes I put a fruit 2 o in the mixture
for a more fruity flavor shake. There is one I did not like at all...too
sweet I foget the exact name but it is a tropical fruit cooler. It is blue
and very sweet. Not for me.

trouble with them when they used them in the hospitial.. Too high in

To the previous poster - there is NO sugar in the Nectar protein powders -
23g protein and 0g carbs and 0g fat. If there was natural sugar, they
would have to include it on the label.
<p>
To the original poster - I like the Caribbean Cooler and Roadside Lemonade
flavors...JR

I have to be careful with the Nectars as they tend to go through me rather
quickly and impact my blood sugar. I believe it is because they are an
isolate. I have heard that drinking them slower helps with that problem or
eating something with them will also help. I prefer the Fuzzy Navel of all
the flavors. A great way to spruce up the chocolate is to buy some of the
DaVinci SF syrups and add to your shake. I love caramel and butter rum in
my chocolate shakes. A great vanilla shake is ProV60 (from vitalady.com)
and I am trying it with different flavor syrups too for a different taste
now and then. The EggNog with a bit of cinnamon added in is quite good.
You can find the DaVinci syrups on txwls.com for shipping this time of year
and vitalady ships them during the non-freezing time of year as they come
in glass bottles. I highly recommend them for a flavor change from the
norm. They come in a significant number of flavors and you can also buy
samples to try first if you don't want the whole bottle. You use a
tablespoon of syrup in a shake - zero calories, zero everything except 100%
flavor. Sandra

I love Fruity Whey - Punch Flavor. I make it with Crystal Lite Lemonade
and it tastes like Hawaiian Punch.

I didn't like the Nectar Protein Drinks, but I did find something else that
I like: Sci Fit Fruit Punch Protein Twist (40g protein).

I mix Fuzzy Naval with the Whey Vanilla, f/f carbcountdown milk and some
ice and it taste like a creamcycle. Or substitute the milk with crystal
lite orange-pinapple. I also like the Roadside Lemonade in the summer over
ice. 275/193/150~~3/15/04

I'm 8+ months out. Since about 3 weeks out the Nectars have been the only
protein drinks that I have been able to tolerate. I like the Apple Estacy
(tastes like green apple & is the color of one), Fuzzy Navel, Sidewalk
Lemonade, The Cherry is a bit too sour for me unless I add some s/f
sweetener to it. For anyone that has trouble with the milky/creamy drinks,
the nectars are a great solution.

You can get Nectars at www.VitaLady.com.
And yes, they can make you dump . . . drink slower, if they get you, or eat
with 'em, or add a little dab of PB to 'em, or something.
