Question:
How much food did you consume at 1, 2 & 3 months post op?

I am only a week out and can consume just at 1T. I think I am on target. I am wondering how much I will be consuming in a month and again at 2 months. Any input would be appreciated.    — bubbleboo K. (posted on June 20, 2004)

I can't remember a whole lot of the quantity of food I could consume but I do remember on the liquids, I could usually get about 4 ounces down over a period of about 45 minutes. I drank slowly while I was on clear liquids. When I went on full liquids (which includes cream based soups and puddings), I could usually eat 3-4 oz of a cream soup if I ate slowly and the soup wasn't super thick. But I usually drank the McDonald's cream of broccolli (my personal favorite) and I could only get between 2-3 oz down at a time over about 20-30 minutes because it was pretty thick. They don't make it in the summer. I'm currently 5 1/2 months post op and have lost 86 pounds. I'm sure everyone is different, and every food affects each person differently. If I'm eating ground turkey breast mixed with some bottled spaghetti sauce and picante sauce, I can get about 1/2-3/4 cups total volume over 30 minutes. If I make chicken look like sawdust in the food processor, I can mix a little non-fat mayo and hot dog relish with it and get about 1/2 cup over 30 minutes. If I try to eat any chicken, turkey, ham or beef without making it look like sawdust, I can't get more than two bites down before I'm MISERABLE. I chew at least 30 times and eat very slowly, but still can't finish a single chicken strip. It's very painful for me...like it's sticking in the pit of my stomach. Don't know if this helps any at all, but I believe you're right on target for being 4 weeks out. Just remember that as soon as you start to feel full or suddenly feel uncomfortable, stop immediately. I am very scared of stretching my pouch so I really try to watch everything closely. Hope this helps...good luck and God bless.
