Question:
HELP! I gained 9 lbs over the holidays.
I gained 9 pounds over the holidays and feel miserable. I was off from work for 2 weeks (work for a school) and all I did was "graze" all the time. I am now back on track (I hope) today is the first day back to school so I am going to try to do mostly protein and drink lots of water. How long do you think it will take me to loose these pounds I gained??? I also would like to loose about 25 more AFTER the 9 I gained. Is this possible this late after my surgery? (3/13/02). Thanks for you input! — Kay W. (posted on January 5, 2004)

Kay, it is very possible to lose the 9 and additional pounds if your
willing to do the work. Its no secret to doing it, we have to take in less
calories and exercise (heart pumping cardio only) to burn the calories
taken in. I too gained a few over the holidays and have my own plan to
take them off (add an extra work out session, cut out some of the snacking,
up the water and better meal choices), which I started a few days ago.
Good luck!!

Yes you can do it! You can get off the gain by doing what you are doing.
Protein and water, ect... I gained 6 pounds while on my
honeymoon(November) and thought it was the end of the world but after
getting back on track, I got those pounds plus more off. The main thing to
remember is not beat yourself up. You enjoyed the holidays now its time to
get back on (protein)track. You can do it!!! Good luck. ~Sidney~ Open

See my profile you can do it! Back to basics! Water protein exercise and NO
snacking. I did this and lost from 205 to 191. you can do it too! I didnt
risk my life having surgery to get fat again.

I'm still pre-op (surgery on 2-4-04) but I know what I'm looking for from
this surgery...a chance to turn back the clock. When I was in my twenties
(I'm 43 now) I pretty much stayed between 110 and 120, which was good for
me at 5'2". But then something happened (law school) and that 120
became 125...still no big deal. But the 125 became 130, and so on. And now
it is a big deal. So I'm hoping to turn back the clock to when I stopped
being vigilant. I know there's a lot of hard work ahead, but all I'm asking
for is a second chance. And right now you are being vigilant...you've
enjoyed yourself, and there is nothing wrong with that. But you know that
now is the time to get back to basics. I would think that it would be no
harder for you than it would be for the other billion people who put on
weight over the holidays...I applaud you for recognizing that you have to
do something now, before it does get out of hand. And thankfully, you've
been given a wonderful tool to put you on the road to success!

You now have the control over your weight. Just go back to what made you
successful in the beginning... solid protein, no carbs, lots of water and
some kind of exercise. Graze all you want on solid protein... sliced deli
turkey, deli roast beef, deviled eggs, beef jerky, left over salmon from
dinner... you wont fit very much and it will keep you full for a long time.
Plus you can drink a large glass of ice water just before meals to control
the amount that you can fit. A glass of cold water chills the muscles in
your pouch so that they dont expand as much and you will feel fuller
faster. Especially when you are eating solid protein. See all the control
we have when we want to use it... you will lose those 9 pounds in less than
two weeks! Keep up the speed and the additional 25 should be gone in a
couple of months... then you can work on maintaining. ciao bella, Susan

I'm a firm believer in the Atkin's diet. I lose 1 pound a day. With just a
little time you can get back on track. You're not starting at the top, it's
only 9 (my pep talk) Get the book for just a few bucks. Reading it really
gets me motivated again. Honestly, it says in 48 hrs your cravings are gone
and it really does happen, for me its less than 48 hrs. I only do it 2 wks
to get on track or even just one. With your tool and a week, you can do
it!!!
Good Luck!

Oh Kay! You sound just like me :( I put on 7, and that doesn't even count
the last 13 or so I wanted to lose. I thought I had things all under
control, but it does sneak up on you! If you're interested I'd love to
have/give supportive emails. Anyone with anything to add please email me
to at [email protected] Good luck!
