Question:
Compression garments used post-LBL?

Please share the exact make/model of any compression garments you used post-op lower body lift. I've seen many but can't imagine how you wear these and take care of 6 drains too. Much appreciated.    — Vicki S. (posted on December 5, 2003)

Well,I don't know the make and model of mine because my surgeon provided it. It was a crotchless girdle. I also didn't have to wear it until the drains were out. While the drains were in, I just had a binder that wrapped around me like I had after my wls. Hope that helps.

Ditto here. I wore the abdominal binder until all drains were out, and then ordered a $90 garment from www.makemeheal.com. This garment proved to be unworkable once I went back to work, as I had to undo 10 hooks and 2 zippers just to go the restroom. In the end, I tried my wife's good girdle from JC Penny and it worked every bit as good. As an added plus, you can get one of these for about $30. Don't bother with the cheap ones at Walmart, they don't have enough compression. Get a good thick one. Lol. Better you never thought you would get girdle advice from a man, eh? Best of luck :)

I used the Marena crotchless garment. My surgeon provided it, but I had found in my research that they were highly recommended. The drains go down through the crotch, then you pin them outside. This thing will be your best friend.

Hi, I am 6 weeks out from my hernia repair, abdominoplasty and Bilateral Brachioplasty. I wore the binder from the Dr. for the first week to 1 1/2 weeks until the drains were out...anything else would have been impossible- but then after that my great doc told my to buy the compression garment I need from WalMart. It is made by cupid, costs $12.96, has a high waist (almost to breasts) with bra like closures and extends to the thigh area. these work great. He recommends them to all of his patients- and they are cheap enough to buy 2 or 3 so cleaning won't be a problem. I still wear mine 24/7 (except for showers), under his orders, but feel more secure with it on. I realize the LBL is different form my surgery, but I had to share the garment info with you...GOOD LUCK!!!
